Historical Fiction Writing Contest Winners

In honor of our 125th anniversary, the DSHA held a historical fiction writing contest, encouraging students to dive into the history of DS, HA, and DSHA.
Mathematics faculty, Rissie Lundberg, DSHA ’92, created the contest upon hearing of a similar historical fiction writing venture while listening to NPR. Frank Miller, author of Valiant Women: The first 125 years of Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, drafted three prompts for students to work from. The contest was open to all students from the classes of 2017-2020, and a winner was chosen from each class. One of these stories will be chosen for publication in upcoming edition of The Word magazine. Stay tuned!

Take a journey through time and read about the first-ever Wisconsin and DSHA state championship in conjunction with Title IX, DSHA student-life in the 1980’s, and navigating the challenges of high school life during WWII.
