Opportunities for 2021-2022

Welcome back! Volunteers are an essential part of many activities at DSHA and a great way for parents to connect with other parents. From stuffing envelopes to chaperoning dances, helping with the Auction or one of our Parent Associations — we could not do what we do without you! After a year of restrictions, we are thrilled to welcome volunteers back into the school building. Below is a list of opportunities available to parents.   • Father Daughter Dinner Dance Committee

    Help us plan this winter's Father Daughter Dinner Dance along with Co-chairs Megan Hambrook and Suzy Koehn. The event will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at the Pfister Hotel.

  • Auction — Acquisitions Team

    Join the Acquisitions Team and reach out to previous item and experience donors to seek their support this year. Creative ideas for new items and experiences are always welcome.   • Auction — Environment Team

    Join the Environment Team and create the perfect atmosphere that fits the theme (TBA) for this year's auction. Share your ideas or follow the directions of the creative-types.   • Grandparent Liturgy Planning Committee

    DSHA annually welcomes hundreds of grandparents for Mass and a light breakfast with their granddaughters. Assist with the planning of this event planned for April 27, 2022. Have questions or need more information? Click here to sign up or contact Director of Annual Giving Matt Johnson.
  • Mother Daughter Liturgy & Luncheon Committee | COMPLETE

    Help us plan this fall's Mother Daughter Liturgy & Luncheon along with Co-chairs Natalie Rifelj and Anne Feldner-Acosta.  The event will be held on November 21 at the Pfister Hotel.

  • 7th - 8th Grader Open House | October 24

  • Dance Chaperones | ONE TIME / DANCE

    Assist DSHA staff with chaperoning and student supervision for one of the three remaining dances this year:
    Homecoming Dance | September 18 – 7pm-10pm at DSHA 
    Sophomore Fling | February 12 – 7pm-10pm at DSHA
    Junior Prom | April 30 – 7pm-10pm Place TBA
    Graduate Dinner Dance | May 31 – Time/Place TBA

  • Recruitment Events | ONE-TIME / EVENT

    Recruitment events for prospective and current students are held throughout the year. They include Girls Night In, Freshman Fun Nights, Lock Ins, etc. Assist DSHA staff with supervision and event management.   • Annual Fund Phon-a-Thon Volunteers | November 7, 8, or 9

    Giving to the DSHA Annual Fund makes a difference in the education of every single young woman attending our school. Volunteering your time and asking your fellow Dasher supporters to donate to the DSHA Annual Fund is equally important. Each year DSHA parents volunteer to assist the annual fund in outreach through the Phone-a-Thon. On November 7th, 8th, and 9th we will meet at school to call on parents, alumnae, and donors to help us reach our goal so that we can provide the best experience possible to all current Dashers.   • Mother Daughter Liturgy & Luncheon | November 21

    The Mother Daughter Liturgy & Luncheon will take place on Sunday, November 21, 2021. Assist on the day of the luncheon with set-up, liturgical roles, or selling raffle tickets. Have questions or need more information?  Contact Co-Chairs Natalie Rifelj or Anne Feldner-Acosta

  • Auction | March 26

    Join the fun the week of the party! Volunteers are needed the days prior for set-up, the night of the event, and the days after for clean-up, etc. You will be contacted for your availability.   • Baccalaureate Mass & Graduation Ceremony | May 26 & 27

    Graduation week is full of celebrations at DSHA. Only freshman, sophomore, and junior parents should sign-up for these activities, so that senior class parents can attend with their daughters.   • Dasher Resale (Textbooks) | June

    Used textbooks are collected and priced in late May and the used book sale will take place in the Quad in June - date to be determined. A link to sign up will be posted in spring, 2022. Until then, contact parent co-chair Tracey Fricker. 
  • Dasher Resale (Uniforms) | June

    Help with DSHA's annual used uniform sale in summer. A link to sign up will be posted in spring, 2022. Until then, contact Dean of Student Affairs Rachel Fredricks.
  • Dash-a-Thon Money Counter | September 22 & 28 | COMPLETE

    Help us count money raised and turned in for Dash-a-Thon, the annual student fundraiser at 8:00 a.m. on September 22 and 28. The ideal volunteers have a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and are willing to take charge on both counting days.

  • Alumnae Weekend | October 1, 2 & 3 | COMPLETE

    Join your fellow Dashers at DSHA on Saturday, October 2 for Dash-tober Fest. Volunteers are needed at this night of food and beverages, fall vibes, and so much fun! Questions? Contact Alumnae Director Danielle Jerominski Rabe, DSHA '08.

  • Parent Association (PA) Volunteer Opportunities

    The Parent Association (PA) has a variety of volunteer opportunities. Some are ongoing and some are one-time commitments. For more information, contact the PA President Moe Tarantino.

  • Main Office Help — General Assistance

    Have a free hour or two now and then? Help out in the Main Office answering phones and welcoming visitors when one of our staff is out of the office. Training will be provided.   • On Call As Needed

    This role is perfect for the volunteer with a flexible schedule that can come in on short notice and help with anything from putting a mailing together, to pitching in when additional volunteers are needed for a particular task during the school day.   • Parent Athletic Association (PAA) Golf Outing & Dinner Planning Committee | COMPLETE

    Help the PAA support Dasher Athletics with its one and only annual fundraiser at The University Club in Brown Deer. Assist with the organization & fundraising for the event. The committee meets monthly from May-September to plan & fundraise for the outing held on a Friday in September.

  • PAA Golf Outing Event Help | September 10 | COMPLETE

    Help the PAA support Dasher Athletics with its one and only annual fundraiser at The University Club in Brown Deer.

  • Campus Ministry — Altar Linens

    Once a month pick up the altar linens at DSHA. Altar linens from Mass need to be ironed and folded each month. Campus Ministry will clean them and have them ready for you to iron crisply and fold. Contact Campus Minister for Liturgy & Prayer Catherine Lennon. She will train you.

  • Campus Ministry — Collection Delivery

    Every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month during the school year, students donate canned goods for a food pantry in order to be out of uniform. Campus Ministry needs volunteers to bring those canned goods to Mother of Good Counsel Food Pantry (3021 N 68th St, Milwaukee, WI 53210). Pick up time is 8:00 a.m. at the DSHA student entrance.     Chaperone and serve at an area community agency on Sophomore Service Day. Parent chaperones will transport a group of sophomores to and from their service day site.
