Madison Quest, DSHA '25, Named Gatorade Wisconsin Volleyball Player of the Year

In its 39th year of honoring the nation’s most elite high school athletes, Gatorade today announced Madison Quest of Divine Savior Holy Angels High School is the 2023-24 Gatorade Wisconsin Volleyball Player of the Year. Quest is the first Gatorade Wisconsin Volleyball Player of the Year to be chosen from Divine Savior Holy Angels High School.    

The award, which celebrates the nation’s top high school athletes for excellence on the court, in the classroom and in the community, distinguishes Quest as Wisconsin’s best high school volleyball player. From CEOs and coaches to star athletes, Gatorade Player of the Year winners showcase the power of sport, touting an all-star group of alumni that includes Harper Murray (2022-23, Skyline High School, Mich.), Kerri Walsh Jennings (199596, Archbishop Mitty High School, Calif.) and April Ross (1999-00, Newport Harbor High School, Calif.)  

The 6-foot-3 junior outside hitter led the Dashers to a 47-1 record and a second-straight Division 1 state championship this past season. Quest amassed 557 kills, 306 digs and 67 blocks while posting a .452 kill percentage. A MaxPreps.com First Team All-American selection, Quest tallied 24 kills, 15 digs and five service aces in DSHA’s 3-2 win over Oconomowoc High School in the state final. She is ranked as the nation’s No. 17 recruit in the Class of 2025 by PrepDig.com and concluded her junior year with 1,422 kills and 908 digs in her prep volleyball career.  

Quest has volunteered locally on behalf of her school’s Best Buddies program and with Hometown Heroes, a program that raises funds for veterans and their families. She has also donated her time with the Friedens Family Food Pantry and Lake Country Caring, a community resource for those in need. “Madison is steady on the court and is the rock on which you can build a team,” said Amy Wagner, head coach of Germantown High School. “She is an awesome passer and defender, she can generate kills from the front and back court, and at 6-foot-3, she is a wall to contend with at the net.”  Quest has maintained a weighted 3.91 GPA in the classroom. She will begin her senior year of high school this fall.  

The Gatorade Player of the Year program annually recognizes one winner in the District of Columbia and each of the 50 states that sanction high school football, girls volleyball, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, baseball, softball, and boys and girls track & field, and awards one National Player of the Year in each sport. The selection process is administered by the Gatorade Player of the Year Selection Committee, which leverages experts including coaches, scouts, media and others as sources to help evaluate and determine the state winners in each sport.  

Quest joins recent Gatorade Wisconsin Volleyball Players of the Year Saige Damrow (2022-23, Howards Grove High School), Mckenna Wucherer (2021-22, Brookfield Central High School), Brooke Mosher (2020-21, Waterloo High School), and Aubrey Hamilton (2019-20, Arrowhead High School), among the state’s list of former award winners.  

As part of Gatorade’s commitment to breaking down barriers in sport, every Player of the Year also receives a grant to donate to a social impact partner. To date, Gatorade Player of the Year winners’ grants have totaled more than $4.9 million across more than 1,600 organizations.
