This November, faculty and staff gathered in the Robert & Marie Hansen Family Fine Arts Theatre to celebrate the fall awardees. During the ceremony, presenters and past winners read excerpts of the awardees' nominations. 

Custodian Team Lead Claudia Sanders, who has served at DSHA for 24 years, was recognised for her positive attitude and collaborative spirit. According to one anonymous nominator, "Claudia keeps things moving steadily forward and doesn't get rattled by the unexpected." Another had these kind words to say: "You can always count on Claudia. Her kindness, hard work, and compassion embody the core values of DSHA."

Mathematics Department Chair Dawn Gardner received the award for her service to students. As one nominator wrote, "Dawn works tirelessly to make math accessible for all DSHA students, and she ensures our students are prepared well for college-level math." Her peers also recognised Gardner for her leadership of the Mathematics Department and Sono House.

Attendance Secretary and Main Office Administrative Assistant Nikki Scully took home a fall semester award not only for her sunny attitude but for wearing so many hats. "She's in the front office, she's a nurse, attendance secretary, translator, and so much more," said her nominator. "Her work keeps the school going...and is always helpful and pleasant to our students."

Theology Faculty Lisa Metz received the final award of the semester. With more than 25 years at DSHA, Metz has taken on many roles: adult faith formation minister, House Dean, chaperone on DSHA's civil rights pilgrimage, and more. As her nominator wrote, "Lisa has a positive impact on everything she touches. She brings energy and creativity to all interactions. Her ideas have made DSHA a better place." 

Recipients of these awards are nominated by their colleagues and decided upon by DSHA's senior leadership team.
