As we look ahead with the Forward in Faith campaign, we take a moment to look back at the history of our treasured turf.
This spring, DSHA will break ground on new outdoor athletic facilities. These fields will give Dashers the opportunity to practice, compete, and host games on campus—a major win for the 65% of students who participate in athletics at DSHA.
While we look forward to these updates, we can’t help but reflect on all these fields have seen since Divine Savior High School opened its doors at DSHA’s current campus back in 1951. Back in the school’s early days on 100th Street, the campus grounds were occasionally used for physical education and school events.
Over the years, though, students began to organize outdoor games for fun, including a small yet dedicated crew of softball players. In 1972, DSHA introduced its first formal softball team. In the years that followed, more outdoor sports would be added to DSHA’s roster, including soccer in 1979, field hockey in 2004, and lacrosse in 2017. DSHA continues to expand its athletics offerings—a pilot flag football program began in summer 2025!
We’re excited for our Dashers continued success on the field—and a new home for Dasher Athletics!
