“Do justice, love goodness, and walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8

Dear DSHA community,

Our partnership with you as parents is a beautiful example of goodness. As the saying goes, “it takes a village to raise a child.” As part of the While Child Education Immersion focus groups this fall, parents shared valuable feedback about opportunities to strengthen communication and deepen parent engagement. While strong teachers’ responsiveness and parent-to-parent connections were noted as strengths, parents had ideas about school communications and parent engagement. This survey is intended to gather your input to help DSHA improve how we communicate, build belonging among parents, and create more meaningful opportunities for partnership between the school and families.

It is in this spirit of goodness, collaboration, and care for our daughters that we invite you to take this short DSHA Parent Engagement and Communication Survey.

God bless,
Principal

ACADEMIC UPDATES

NEW! Course Registration & Curriculum Guide | Parents of freshmen, sophomores, and juniors — course registration for the 2026-27 school year is right around the corner! DSHA's 2026-27 curriculum guide and instructions on how to register were sent on January 8. Course selection opened on January 9 and will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, January 25.

On Wednesday, January 14, counselors will meet one-on-one with students in classrooms to help students make selections and answer any questions.

For each student, one parent/guardian is required to sign the Course Request Acknowledgement form, which is available on myDSHA until Sunday, January 25. If you have any questions, please reach out to your daughter’s counselor.

NEW! Second Semester Strategies | Parents, how can you make sure your daughter is ready for and starts the spring semester strong? Start with a reflection on her fall semester, as reflection leads to personal learning. While thinking of the first two weeks of the first semester, encourage your daughter to answer the following:
  • What did you do to get off to a great start?
  • What could have been done differently to help you get off to a faster start?
These questions should help guide her to success!

Questions? Contact Academic Dean Erin Housiaux.

You may choose any professional photographer for your senior portraits. However, to ensure a cohesive and high-quality yearbook, please follow these important guidelines when selecting the photo to submit:
  • Headshot only: Close-up portraits help with clear identification and visual unity in the yearbook. Yearbook staff will crop if needed.
  • High-resolution images: For the best print quality, use a digital camera and save the image in a large format.
  • File format: Save the image as a JPG file, titled using the format LastName_FirstName.jpg

College Counseling Updates

NEW! Class of 2026 College Decision Next Steps | Seniors are starting to receive decisions from colleges and universities of accepted, deferred, denied, or waitlist. There are still steps to take after receiving these decisions. Whatever the decision, students must note the decision on their Naviance account.
  • For students accepted: Congratulations to those who received college acceptance! Your daughters have until Friday, May 1 to confirm their decision, unless they applied Early Decision (ED). What's next:
    • Watch the students’ school portals for the next steps. They do not need to decide until they are certain where they want to attend.
    • Watch for special invitations to honor programs or scholarships.
    • Pay attention to housing information.
    • Watch for financial information.
    • If your daughter is 100% certain she will not attend an accepted college, she should inform the college by emailing the admissions office or admissions counselor. This is a courteous and expected task.
  • For students deferred: A deferral is not a no; it means the school is still strongly considering your daughter for admission and will move her application to the regular decision pool. This means that her application will be reviewed in its entirety as a regular decision student.
    • Watch for directions on students’ next steps. Many colleges give very specific guidelines on what to do if students are deferred. Your daughter MUST follow those directions exactly.
    • Most colleges usually want to see the students’ mid-year grades (watch deadlines).
    • Some colleges allow for a statement of continued interest or have an essay prompt (watch for the deadline).
  • For students on a waitlist: A waitlist means that your daughter is not accepted at this time but will be put on a list of students who may receive an offer after Friday, May 1, through the first day of the fall semester, depending on current student offers accepted and spot availability.
    • Watch for the next steps and follow them exactly.
    • Keep an active watch on the school portal and email.
Questions? Contact Director of College Counseling Kristin Shea.

Optional Dasher Dialogues have been a part of the fabric of DSHA for the last nine years. Consistent with the DSHA mission to form young women who accept the gospel call to live lives that will make a difference, Dasher Dialogues create a loving and caring space for conversations that can be uncomfortable. These conversations focus on the dignity of every Dasher while helping students understand their responsibility to act as disciples of Jesus Christ.
