Student Diversity Council

The purpose of the Student Diversity Council (SDC) is to gather a group of students monthly to plan Dasher Dialogues and to plan and execute Diversity and Inclusion events. SDC works with major clubs and activities such as Campus Ministry, Best Buddies, Sisters of Culture, Furia Latina and Raise Awareness, and so members also include liaisons to these organizations.

Beginning in 2018-2019, Student Diveristy Council will be a commission of Student Council. Students not in the commission will be welcome to join and work on events.

"The Diversity and Inclusion commission of Student Council is an important link between the DSHA student body and the administration. We as students are able to promote a welcoming community that allows diversity to thrive and help foster a genuine respect amongst the DSHA community while bringing to attention the beauty in our differences."

Requirements & Fees

The Student Diversity Council consists of students who have expressed an interest in working on, and learning more about, issues of Diversity and Inclusion both within DSHA and in our wider world. Students who express this interest are encourage to apply to join SDC.

Fatima, Class of 2020, Milwaukee

The most exciting thing about Student Diversity Council is that we are able to lead DSHA to become a more inclusive environment for all its students. In that way, we help the student body feel safe and heard while at school.

Dannie, Class of 2020, Milwaukee

If I had to choose one word to describe the Diversity and Inclusion Council, I would describe it as accepting. Our commission strives to make everyone in the DSHA community feel accepted for their different ethnic backgrounds.

Megan, Class of 2020, Milwaukee

This commission is new and different from the others, because it specifically highlights an important element in any high school, diversity and inclusion.
