In honor of our 125th anniversary, the DSHA held a historical fiction writing contest, encouraging students to dive into the history of DS, HA, and DSHA.
On August 4, 2017, following an intense week of camp at the United States Olympic Training Center, 12 young women from colleges and universities across the country were selected for the 2017 USA Basketball Women’s U23 National Team. One of those 12 talented young women was none other than DSHA graduate and Notre Dame Rising Junior Arike Ogunbowale.
Every year, DSHA assigns a summer reading book for students to complete by the first day of school; then they are tested on the material and complete related work. In the 2017-2018 school year, however, DSHA spearheaded a new, unique approach that will begin a yearlong discussion for students and staff alike.
On June 27, 2017, DSHA was named one of the Business Journal's Best Places to Work in Milwaukee for 2017. This is the second year in a row that DSHA has won this award, after becoming the first high school to ever receive the recognition in 2016.
For the past eight years, the DSHA Rugby Team has vied for a national championship title, coming so close with six third place finishes and one fourth place finish. Finally, on May 21, 2017, with a 6-0 win over Kahuku, Hawaii, the Dashers became National Champions once again!
Anxious, excited, and optimistic are all emotions that DSHA students experience before embarking on a thrilling, “life-changing” service expedition to Quito, Ecuador in June.
From 2011 to 2016, the average number of non-athletic, full-tuition scholarships received by each DSHA class was three. In the Class of 2017, however, a striking twelve seniors received academic and personal merit full-ride scholarships to their respective colleges.
