Admissions Process

Welcome, Class of 2023 Applicants!

Thank you for your interest in DSHA. Our admissions team looks forward to meeting you and your family (if we haven’t already!) and answering any questions you may have about the application process. We’re here for you – whatever you might need.

The detailed timeline below will help guide you in completing your application, but if you have any questions – big or small – do not hesitate to ask!

2018-19 ADMISSIONS TIMELINE

  • August 15: DSHA begins accepting applications for the Class of 2023

  • November 2: Application deadline

    For full consideration for the DSHA Class of 2023, you must apply online by November 2. An application fee of $35 must be included at the time of submission. Applications received after the deadline will be considered as space permits.
  • November 2: Financial aid deadline

  • November 2 & 3: Entrance exam offered at DSHA

    • When is the exam offered at DSHA? DSHA applicants are required to take the entrance exam. DSHA is offering the exam on Friday, November 2 and Saturday, November 3 from 8 a.m.–11:45 a.m. An application must be on file at the time of testing. Pre-registration is necessary for the Saturday exam. Parents and guardians interested in talking with school administrators are invited to stay for an informational coffee.
    • What is on the exam? The entrance exam covers cognitive abilities as well as basic skills. The test includes verbal, non-verbal/quantitative, reading, language and math sections. The test is the Scholastic Testing Service's High School Placement Test.
    • Can I test at another school? Most Catholic schools in the area use the same standardized test as their entrance exam. Current exceptions include Dominican High School and St. Joan Antida High School. Please call the DSHA admissions office at 414.466.3707 if you have any questions about the validity of your test.
  • January 2019: Admissions decisions mailed

    DSHA admissions decisions will be mailed to families in January 2019.

What does the DSHA Admissions Committee consider when making admissions decisions?

Our admissions committee will review:
    • your application
    • the results of your entrance exam
    • your 7th and 8th grade report cards
    • your previous standardized test scores
    • a student achievement form (completed by your current teachers)

As an applicant, you are required to complete the application and entrance exam.
