Advent Wreath Promises:
This year, our Advent theme is “Pray. Understand. Ponder.” As a Campus Ministry program, we are encouraging girls to reflect on the scripture verse Luke 2:19.  The shepherds come to the Holy Family and tell about the miraculous message the angels gave them, that this child is the chosen one, the Messiah, the Son of God.  The Gospel says, "Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart." This Advent, how can we better listen to what God is telling us, and how can we act in a way to best serve Him? On one of the leaves, we encourage you to consider what you will ponder this Advent, and to make a promise to focus on personal reflection. These leaves will help us build an Advent Wreath of the DSHA community’s promises to themselves and God.

When answering “What will you ponder this Advent?” here are some things to consider:
  • Have you been treating your peers and siblings with the
goodness and kindness of Jesus Christ?
  • Have you been paying attention to the many social issues that our country is facing?
  • Have you attempted to do good for others, even when it is not convenient?
  • Have you been listening to the stories of your classmates?

Heavenly Father, unseen Companion of our life,
give us faith and eager expectancy
as we begin this fresh stage of our journey.
Take from us all fear of the unknown
and teach us to wrest treasures from the darkness.
As the days come and go,

    with many opportunities and enriching experiences;

May our best hopes be more than ever fulfilled.

    Parent Mass (September 6)

Fr. Francis Jordan Week (September 9-13)
All week long, students can write special intentions to Mary, just like Fr. Jordan would! Prayers can be written and placed in the basket in our chapel’s Mary corner.

Monday, students can come wearing blue with their skirts in honor of Mary. We will have our first ever R&R (Rosary and Reconciliation) during early Dasher time in the chapel.

Tuesday, students can wear tie dye with their skirts. During both lunches, we will be hosting a hunger lunch; students will be able to try the food that CRS provides and that we will be packaging at our food pack this week.

Wednesday is the ever-popular students dress like a teacher, teachers dress like a dasher. During both dasher times, students are invited to join in Trivia as teams! First Dasher time is Catholic trivia, and second Dasher time is TSC trivia!

Thursday is Dashathon kick off; students may wear DSHA spirit wear.

Friday is our Foundation Day Mass with Fr. Jeff Wocken, SDS provincial. Students will wear their best uniforms.

Saturday is… our CRS FOOD PACK! Sign up to get service hours in already on X2VOL!

    Recurring Programs
    R&R, Reconciliation and Rosary
Every Monday during early dasher time, students are invited to start their week with some R&R, or Rosary and Reconciliation. Our chaplains, Fr. Dennis or Fr. Patric, will be available to hear confessions while everyone is welcome to also join in praying the rosary.

Parent Masses (first Thursday of every month)
At 7:20 a.m., all parents are invited to stay for a short Mass before out day begins at 7:50 a.m. Our chaplains will be our presiders. This is a great way to pray in our beautiful Mother of Our Savior chapel, and your daughters are of course encouraged to come as well!

Adoration (first Wednesday of every month)
As a part of our Campus Ministry programming and our Applied Wellness endeavors, we will be offering mornings of Eucharistic Adoration. If you are interested in committing to an hour as a guardian, please email Catherine Lennon, Campus Minister for Prayer and Worship, at lennonc@dsha.info

Freshmen Parents - Save the Dates!

Campus ministry staff and student leaders have been working all summer to make these events meaningful experiences for your daughters to grow in faith and community. More information will arrive in October. Both events are at DSHA.

    Freshmen Retreat
    Sunday, Oct. 20 – Monday, Oct. 21

    Freshmen Service Day
    Friday, November 8
Remember, these events are graduation requirements and no alternative activities offered. Please contact Stephanie Monson with questions (monsons@dsha.info; 414-721-7973).

Freshmen Service Orientation – Monday, Sept 9
The class of 2023 will have service orientations on Monday, Sept. 9 in their social studies classes and during their dasher time. At that time, they will receive access to DSHA’s service website, x2VOL, and be able to start recording their service hours. Freshmen are encouraged backlog any service that they have done since the first day of school if needed.

    Summer Service
Students are asked to add summer service to x2VOL by Sept. 30th. Here are some important reminders:
    • All summer hours go toward the Salvatorian Sisters Service Award senior year
    • SS hours do not apply to the grade level requirement
    • Students should choose the “summer service” goal on their x2VOL entry
    • SS still needs to meet service requirements
o Service that does not meet the service requirements can be added using the goal “Apply to all non-exclusive goals”
    • Mission trips/VBS “count” for 20 hours

    Matthew 26:36-46; Hebrews 5:7-9

    Lord God,
The message of the cross is difficult to take.
How can death give way to life? How can weakness be strength?
Yet your word says that Jesus, being God,
    Took on human flesh
And suffered the worst kind of death.
    How can this be?
This message is indeed difficult to take.
But your foolishness is wiser than our wisdom.
Your weakness is greater than our strength.
Help us to know that none of us can boast before you.
It is only in Christ Jesus that we can boast.
In his name, we ask you to help our unbelief.
That we may love you, and walk in the way Jesus taught us.
    In his name,
    Amen
