This year, we're happy to welcome two new coaches to DSHA's roster, including one very familiar face.
Chris Cotey, Assistant Cross Country Coach
Chris Cotey is no stranger to DSHA! Our community knows her already as a member of our Social Studies Faculty!
In addition to being a passionate teacher, Mrs. Cotey is also an experienced coach; she has 14 years of experience coaching cross country and track and field at both Rufus King High School and Whitefish Bay High School.
Outside of school, Mrs. Cotey is an avid runner. She's completed numerous marathons, road races, and triathlons; she's also completed two Ironman races. Her favorite marathon is Boston. Where else can you combine 26.2 miles of running with a Revolutionary War history lesson?
Each year, Mrs. Cotey has her own birthday tradition: She celebrates by running, swimming, and biking a minute for every year she is old (don't ask how long this birthday triathlon is, though!).
Jane Westreich, Assistant Varsity Tennis Coach
A passion for tennis came early and easily for Jane Westreich. She grew up steps from the Elm Grove courts and played alongside her five older siblings. That backyard-to-baseline upbringing sparked her passion.
Coach Westreich went on to play for Hall of Fame Coach David Steinbach at Brookfield Central High School, where she was a member of the 1983 and 1984 state championship teams.
Jane has remained a dedicated and competitive tennis player throughout her life, captaining and competing on multiple USTA teams and leading three teams to nationals over the past five years. Her competitive experience on the court is matched by nearly two decades of multi-sport youth coaching, working with young athletes across tennis, youth football, basketball, softball, and lacrosse.
Beyond her tennis background, Coach Westreich brings a unique dimension to the DSHA program as the owner of Brew City Wellness, Inc., with over 30 years of expertise in fitness, strength and conditioning, nutrition, and recovery. She holds multiple ISSA certifications and is committed to helping student-athletes develop not just as competitors, but as strong, healthy, and resilient individuals.
Coach Westreich is deeply aligned with DSHA Athletics’ mission to develop the whole athlete — on the court and off — and is thrilled to bring her passion for the game, her competitive experience, and her wellness expertise to the Dashers.
