Celebrating Students at DSHA's Second Quarter Assembly

Dashers are perpetually accomplishing great things. Once a quarter, students gather for an all-school assembly to celebrate their peers.
As the second quarter draws to a close, Dashers gathered together for a recognition assembly led by Principal Dan Quesnell. At the event, Quesnell paid tribute to dozens of students and their achievements.

National Merit Scholar Semifinalists

Students enter the National Merit Scholarship Program, a nationwide competition for recognition and awards, by taking the PSAT. 16,000 of the high performers were recently designated semifinalists on a state representational basis. 

Congratulations to DSHA's semifinalists Gisela Adelson, DSHA '26, and Elizabeth Regan, DSHA '26. Additionally, Erin Gonzales, DSHA '26, was recognized as a Commended Student by the National Merit Scholarship Program for her exceptional academic promise.

Marquette University Law School Summer Youth Institute

This program is designed to introduce students entering grades 8-10 to the legal system, expose them to careers in law, and provide them with practical tools for achieving their educational goals. Enrollment is capped at just 24 students. This summer, Malia Hutchinson, DSHA '29, was awarded Best Individual Team Appellee Argument.

DSHA Robotics

On June 14, the DSHA/MUHS joint robotics team, known as Team 1732 Hilltopper Robotics, won the state championship!

On October 11, the team took first place at TWIST (Together, Women in STEM Thrive), an all-girls robotics event. Congratulations to the drive team:

Science Olympiad

On November 15, the Science Olympiad Co-Curricular participated in the Marquette Invitational and competed against 25 teams from Wisconsin and Illinois. Congratulations to these Dashers who placed in their events:
  • Kenny Agbeluyi, DSHA '27, and Taiwo Agbeluyi, DSHA '27: 3rd place in Horticulture
  • Sophia Collins, DSHA '26, and Anna Miller, DSHA '26: 5th place in Disease Detectives
  • Camila Monarrez Soto, DSHA '26, and Kaitlyn Tran, DSHA '26: 5th place in Climate Change & Remote Sensors
  • Alexandra Sanchez Benitez, DSHA '26, and Camila Monarrez Soto, DSHA '26:  6th place in Anatomy & Physiology
  • Sophia Collins, DSHA '26, and Amelia Motl, DSHA '26: 8th place in Astronomy
  • Addison Anderson, DSHA '27, Ashley Montes, DSHA '27, and Liz Rios Cerda, DSHA '27: 10th place in Cyptography Codebusters
  • Sophia Collins, DSHA '26, Kaitlyn Tran, DSHA '26: 10th place in Pneumatic Ping Pong Ball Launch

Madison Area Model UN Conference

Lesly Escobar Trujillo, DSHA '28, and Holly Kubert-Marshall, DSHA '28, attended the conference as delegates from South Korea. Their position paper was deemed the best at the November 15 event.
