Whole-Person Education

Model United Nations

Each school year twenty-four students have the opportunity to attend a Model United Nations Conference in Washington, DC sponsored by Georgetown University. Preparation for this four-day simulation gives students insight into what happens at the United Nations in New York. Each student assumes the leadership role of a delegate representing her assigned country, preparing background research to better understand the political, economic, and social issues of their country, relationships with other countries, and the government's stand on the assigned committee topic. The conference is intense, with delegates working together on various committees, negotiating and compromising to get resolutions written and passed. This conference gives students a chance to meet over 3,000 high school students from around the world. At the Georgetown conference, students come from 19 different countries and five continents to experience this exciting opportunity!

Megan, Class of 2022, Wauwatosa

Model UN is, in one word, exceptional. There's nothing like it. Countless laid-back conversations with teenagers just like me from all different countries altered my perspective of the world for the better. The confidence Model UN has given me to go out and change the world will continue to influence my future as a young woman, and I would encourage anyone looking for a truly life-changing experience to take part in this awesome club.

Eileen, Class of 2020, Whitefish Bay

Model UN allows you to learn so much about the world and your respective country in a way that wouldn't be possible without the opportunities given by the club.
