Furia Latina

Furia Latina is dedicated to an appreciation of the Hispanic culture. The group addresses topics of interest to Latinas by joining with other clubs to celebrate and promote Latino culture. Furia Latina attempts to support and help its members be successful academically and socially at DSHA by meeting as a group and supporting each other, educating DSHA students in general, and organizing Spanish-speaking parents and inviting them to be more involved in school activities. Experience real Latin American culture and join Furia Latina!

Major Events

  • Club members participate in the biennial Multi-Cultural Production, and lead the school in its yearly Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass.
  • Furia Latina sponsors a yearly Open-Mic night preceding the Multi-Cultural Dance.
  • At the end of October Furia Latina annually constructs a Day of the Dead Altar.
  • During Hispanic Heritage Month, members display slides about Latinx culture and history on DSHA's video board.

Meetings

Co-curriculars will meet 1-4 times monthly on extended instruction days.

Fatima, Class of 2020, Milwaukee

Furia Latina is the place where we can express our culture and our background. It’s incredible to see how similar we all are through our roots, and to be able to share that as a community is my favorite part of the week. We are like a family.

Magdalena "Maggie," Class of 2020, Milwaukee

"One of the most exciting things about Furia Latina is the vibrant atmosphere that surrounds it. Girls are free to be who they are and never shy away from standing up for what is right, and I think that is one of the most important qualities to have as young women. Furia has helped me grow into a young, strong, and confident Latina woman."
