Robotics Team

Calling all future artists, scientists, engineers, businesswomen, and anyone who wants to experience the fun and challenge of robotics! The Robotics Team is a collaboration between MUHS and DSHA, with most meetings held at MUHS. Experiences include building, programming, and operating robots, web design, marketing, (including social media) fundraising, and encouraging team spirit in preparation for and at competitions. Many college scholarships are available to participants in FIRST robotics. Join a winning team!

2018-19 Season Recap: 
The DSHA/MUHS Robotics Team competed in three regional competitions during the 2018-2019 school year in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. In past years, the team has qualified to compete at the World Championships, and hopes to again in the coming years of competition! 
 

Requirements & Fees

  • There is a team fee to join Robotics.
  • During the “build season,” students are required to attend BUILD meetings 2 nights per week as well as on Saturdays. In addition, Robotics members must volunteer at the FLL tournament and help the team perform other outreach activities.

Meetings

Interested parent and student informational meetings for the 2019/2020 season will be Thursday September 19 at DSHA 6:30-8 and Monday September 23 at MUHS 6:30-8. Attendance at only one meeting is required.
 
The Robotics Team meets year-round in the evenings, 1-2 days a week from May to December and 5 days a week from January to April. The majority of meetings take place at Marquette University High School.

Major Events

    • Each year the team takes part in summer tournaments around the Midwest.
    • The Robotics team organizes and runs the FLL tournament for middle schoolers. For 2019-2020 school year, this event will take place at MUHS on November 16-17, 2019.
    • The team’s FRC 2019 Kickoff event will take place on January 4, 2020.
    • "Build Season”, in which the team builds the newest robot, runs  from January to March 2020.
    • The Wisconsin Robotics regional will take place March 18-21, 2020.
    • If the team qualifies, World Championships will occur in late April 2020 in Detroit, MI.
