Camp Hometown Heroes is a national, free, week-long, overnight summer camp for children who have lost a parent, sibling, or other loved one who served in the U.S. military and died in any manner (e.g., combat, accidents, illness, suicide). Through the support of pediatric grief specialists, the children partake in art and music therapy programs and optional discussion groups. The DSHA Hometown Heroes Club works to prepare for two major fundraising events and takes part in camp preparation. Service activities for DSHA's chapter of Hometown Heroes include administrative support, marketing preparation and implementation, packaging, telephone support, and event management.
