The Criminal Justice Club was created by 2017 graduates Noor Bekhiet and Paula Lovo as a way to enrich their interest in and knowledge of the criminal justice system. The club is discussion-based and addresses prevalent issues within the civil justice system including race, age, and gender prejudices. Review of these components and the injustices that are present within the system are essential to group discussions. The club facilitates important expression of frustrations, suggestions, and changes regarding the criminal justice system.
"In Criminal Justice Club, something is always happening that is causing us to progress forward. Girls express positive thoughts, implement change, and most importantly, lead a path towards awareness and change in the future."
Monica, Class of 2020, Wauwatosa
Being a member of Criminal Justice Club has provided me with new insights and opportunities to discuss the flaws of the system with new people. Criminal Justice is different than any other club offered at DSHA because it's a little smaller, and each girl has the ongoing chance to have her voice heard in discussion. In a word, it's inspiring.
Co-curriculars will meet 1-4 times monthly on extended instruction days.
