SMART Team

The SMART (Students Modeling A Research Topic) team is a program that provides students the opportunity to learn more about the molecular world of biology, scientific research, and skills that will benefit them regardless of their chosen profession, such as communication, teamwork, and presentation skills.  The team visits MSOE or the Medical College of Wisconsin for three site training days and works with a research scientist in the fall.  In the spring, the team has a poster session/oral presentation.  The team also attends the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB).

Shelbey, Class of 2019, Hartland

I would encourage a student to join this club if she has an interest in science! Don't let the title 'SMART Team' scare you! As a team, we have a strong bond and friendship from spending lots of time together and presenting our project. SMART Team has taught me that I can be really good friends with people outside of my grade, and I now look at things in life with a scientific lens.
