Sister Carol Jean Zais, SDS, DS ’62

Ministry: Education

As a child, Sister Carol Jean Zais, SDS, DS ’62, found the religious sisters who were her teachers in Edson, WI, warm and welcoming. She often stayed after school to help them prepare their classrooms for the next day. After becoming a sister herself, she continued to work in school environments, serving as a teacher and principal in schools throughout the Midwest. Closer to home, she helped the Diocese of Green Bay consolidate parish schools to become the All Saints Catholic School System. More recently, she has focused on increasing religious vocations, dedicating herself to growing the number of sisters. She has been part of the summer Mission Appeals program for many years, speaking about the Salvatorian mission and charisms.

Qualities of a DSHA Graduate: She is a critical thinker, using her skills to step into new roles and serve in different ways, as she did during her ministry.
