Sister Betty Vetter, SDS, DS ’61
Ministry: Nursing
Sister Betty Vetter, SDS, DS ’61, felt called to serve, and after pursuing nursing, found her gifts. Throughout her history in medicine, she has worked in the intensive, coronary, and intermediate care units at St. Mary’s Hospital; provided comfort to those who were near the end of their life; and currently helps her sisters with healthcare concerns.
Sister Betty also became a leader at Presentation College in Eagle Butte Campus in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She established a successful nursing department there but also took the initiative to develop and organize a program that helps students reach their potential.
Qualities of a DSHA Graduate: She is a self-advocate because of her proactive nature in the development of the program at the college that helped students reach their potential, as well as her passion to follow the SDS mission to promote justice and improve the lives of those in need.
