Sister Francine Kosednar, SDS, DS ’56

When Sister Francine Kosednar, SDS, DS ’56, started her ministry, she looked to connect her passions of artistry and healing. She spent 45 years ministering in Wausau, playing a role in the evolution of healthcare with a deep compassion for the patient experience. She becamethe first Director of Occupational Therapy at St. Mary’s Hospital in Wausau. When St. Mary’s merged with Memorial Hospital in Wausau in the late 1970s, Sister Francine founded and directed the Neurological Developmental Clinic, which focused on therapy for pediatric patients.
After her time as an occupational therapist and director of the clinic, she continued to be an advocate for patients and worked in customer service for the hospital.
Qualities of a DSHA Graduate: She is a communicator, as seen in her positions as an advocate and therapist, connecting with patients and using her voice to meet their needs.
