Outstanding DSHA Student Art Work Featured in Exhibition
Divine Savior Holy Angels High School (DSHA) students Theresa Lauer and Monica Von Rueden were among the 125 Wisconsin students to receive Gold Key awards in the annual Scholastic Art Awards-Wisconsin Regional exhibition. Lauer entered a piece from her jewelry class and Von Rueden entered a weaving from her fibers class. Their work is on display now through February 25th at the Milwaukee Art Museum in the Pieper Education Gallery.
Students from 103 schools throughout Wisconsin entered this competition; works by students from 80 schools were juried into the exhibit. The Scholastic competition and exhibition is the regional section of The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards National Program conducted nationally by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, Inc., and is the major competition for students in grades 7 - 12. The regional Gold Key-winning artworks will advance to The Scholastic Art Awards National competition along with those from 82 other regionals across the U.S.A. The National Awards Ceremony will be held at Carnegie Hall in NYC June 8.
This regional competition and exhibit is sponsored by The Milwaukee Art Museum, The Marc Flesch Memorial Fund, James and Avis Heller, The Milwaukee Art Museum Docents, James and Carol Wiensch and an anonymous donor.
