Milwaukee – Divine Savior Holy Angels High School honored two exceptional senior athletes at the annual DSHA Sports Night event on Sunday, April 24. Katie Potts, from Brookfield, and Alli McBride, from Elm Grove, were recognized for their dedication, hard work and true sportsmanship. Katie was the 50th young woman in school history to receive the coveted Sportswoman of the Year award, which is voted on by the senior class. This voting process has been a tradition since the award was first given out in 1955. Katie was recognized for her involvement in three varsity sports: basketball, soccer and tennis. She has won the last two WIAA high school singles tennis titles and helped DSHA win two Division I Team State Championships. Alli was the recipient of the Coach’s Award for her participation on the soccer, cross country and basketball team. She is a dedicated and committed individual, “the true embodiment of an athlete,” comments Peggy Seegers-Braun, DSHA Athletic Director.
Katie and Alli also excelled academically, having been named Scholar Athletes for maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Katie will be attending the University of Notre Dame, where she earned a tennis scholarship, and Alli will be enrolled at Marquette University, where she was offered a scholarship to play soccer.
