DSHA student wins newspaper writing award

Milwaukee, WI Divine Savior Holy Angels High School (DSHA) student Meredith McNally, a senior from Wauwatosa, received two awards from the Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation for her articles in The Word, the DSHA student newspaper. Meredith’s editorial, Mean Girls Here Also, received a third place award. The article pointed out the struggles and behavior that is common in a high school setting. It also discussed the need for it to stop and suggestions for making this possible. Meredith also received a certificate of merit for her feature article, Homeless Hit Hard During Winter, which discussed the issues the homeless face on a daily basis. She interviewed those who frequent shelters and was able to get their feelings on the subject.

In addition to writing for the school newspaper, Meredith is a member of the National Honor Society and Pastoral Ministry Council and has participated on the soccer, basketball and rugby teams.
