After prayer and opening welcome by Bill, Jim Podewils gave the treasurer’s report and noted that his figures were from 1/31/05, so final payments for Father-Daughter dinner dance were not included and that was why there was such a high positive balance.

Arlisia McHenry recapped the February meeting, said there was spirited conversation and many topics were introduced including the possibility of having speakers next February, or some other student organized event (not similar to this year’s Multi-Cultural event). It was decided that student input was needed to continue, and would probably come from officers of the cultural clubs in school.Arlisia also noted that she would organize the August Families of Color back-to-school picnic and was looking for help and that Senora Holt expressed interest in helping and having students help plan during Multi-Cultural Club meetings until the end of the year.

Margaret Dunn-Watson reported that she and Karen Knauf were on track to organize the Wine and Cheese Social next September, and they were looking for a date that works in the school calendar and does not conflict with any MarquetteHigh School event.

Chris Krieg and Sheila Fabiszak reported that most everything was set for the April 7th Sub N’ Substance event which will focus on consequences of drinking and driving. Attorney Gerald Boyle and a county judge will speak.Marquette High and DSHA parents from all classes will be invited to attend.

Linda and Rick Goeden reported that all service projects were completed for the year and that it was quite successful.Linda also noted that she has an incoming freshman parent interested in helping her coordinate next year.

On the topic of leadership for the ‘05/’06 school year, Bill asked each task-force head if they will return, and they all indicated they would, so Bill agreed to remain president for another year as well.He also reiterated the importance of finding new parents to continue these projects and that the April meeting will focus on that task.

Upcoming dates:

April 7  Sub N’ Substance: Consequences of Drinking and Driving

April 19  Final Parent Association meeting until July

Respectfully submitted, Bill Ognacevic
