DSHA students participate in outdoor sleepover Local students help organize “Night of Solidarity” to raise awareness of homelessness
Milwaukee– Divine Savior Holy Angels High School students (DSHA) will participate in an outdoor sleepover to raise awareness of homelessness. Organizers of the event include Alli McBride, vice president of the Pastoral Ministry Council, and Maggie Hughes of Elm Grove; the president of the Pastoral Ministry Council, Meg Caragher, of Whitefish Bay; the student service coordinator of the Pastoral Ministry Council, Kelly Sweeney, of Fox Point; Colleen Cary and Rachel Theisen of Mequon; Beth Mueller of Germantown and Kendra Calawerts of Brookfield. Students will take part in various discussions and activities before heading outside at 11:00 p.m. Participants are encouraged to reflect on this issue and experience a little of what the homeless must deal with on a regular basis. The blankets that are used by the students will then be donated to a local shelter. Members of Repairers of the Breach, a daytime shelter for the homeless, will be the featured speakers of the event. This event is sponsored by the DSHA Pastoral Ministry Council.
