DSHA students receive service scholarship
Milwaukee, WI –Leann Vice-Reshel and Monica Manthe of Milwaukee were awarded the Divine Savior Holy Angels (DSHA) Alumnae Service Scholarship. This award was established in 2000 to assist one sophomore and one junior who demonstrate significant service to community, church, school and family and maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or above.
Leann, a sophomore, volunteers with numerous groups in the community. She has worked with the Milwaukee Catholic Home and the Milwaukee Protestant Home where she plays bingo with the residents and brings them the book cart. Leann also volunteers at the Urban Ecology Center. She has helped pick up trash and replant wildlife. Her time is also devoted to The Easter Seals Recreation Center. She enjoys participating in a variety of activities with the residents. “Over the past year I have become more active in pursuing my passion for service. Every opportunity that I get to serve a new organization, I try to seize,” Leann said.
Monica, a junior, devotes much of her time to volunteer work. She is active at St. Margaret Mary Church where she is an assistant coach for the seventh grade volleyball team. “I believe we have built up a mutual respect for one another while having loads of fun,” Monica said. She is also a Eucharistic minister at the parish. Monica volunteers at St. Anne’s Home for the Elderly and enjoys visiting and playing games with the residents. The remainder of her time is spent volunteering at the Exotic Bird Rescue Center and helping her neighbors.
